Once we have received your foster application, your application goes through two rounds of approval by Woof Team Members. Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email inviting you to our Slack Workspace. Make sure you have the Slack app downloaded with notifications on! Prior to fostering, you will need to attend at least one foster orientation which is performed weekly by our foster coordinators. You will also be asked to submit a Home Check in order to foster with Woof On Campus.
Once you have passed foster orientation and received an email approving your home check, you are cleared to foster! You will be added to our #availablefosters channel of our Slack Workspace.
The Woof On Campus Foster Team will let you know when we have animals in need of foster through Slack, and you will be prompted to reach out to one of our foster liaisons if there is an animal you would like to foster once you have passed orientation.
Dogs in need of a foster will be posted in our Available Fosters channel with as much information about them as we have available. Any time you are willing to foster a rescue, you will be able to reach out to a foster coordinator via Slack to find an animal who needs a temporary home! Woof On Campus makes all efforts to ensure animals are placed with the right foster for their personality and temperament.
Fosters can range anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. We ask that every foster plan to commit to fostering their animal until they are adopted. If there is an emergency, we require a 72 hour notice to move an animal to a new foster. You are more than welcome to help market your foster to help find potential adopters, and we encourage it! However, Woof On Campus cannot guarantee specific adopters, even if they are the foster or foster friends. The adoption process is handled completely by the respective rescue, and Woof On Campus does not have influence in potential adoptions.

"Fostering Kahuna was the absolute highlight of my college experience! Raising her and her puppies was so incredible, it's hard to put into words. I had so much fun fostering those doggos and it was SO incredibly rewarding. Whenever I look at pictures and videos of them, I can't help but smile! Those pups (especially Kahuna) meant the world to me, and knowing I was able to help them find their forever homes is far more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined. I learned so much about dogs, their health, and the rescue world, too.
In addition to spending some time with some awesome (and adorable!) dogs, I met some of my best friends through this experience. I am beyond thankful for my remarkable experience fostering, and the amazing friends it brought me."
"College impacts each person in its own unique way, fostering growth at a pivotal point in one's life as they try to discover who they are, what they want to do, who they want to be. If you want to get one step closer to finding these answers: get a foster dog. It has taught me more about being a caring person than any other college experience I have had, forcing me to reconsider what it means to be responsible not only for myself and my actions, but the livelihood of another being I care for. Each decision I made had to be done with the consideration of another in mind. Each choice I made had to be done with the consideration of another in mind. Each choice I made every day directly impacted the emotions and happiness of a sweet dog. In turn, he rewarded me with love and affection that is hard to explain. He looked to me when he was in need or unsure of a situation; he bounded over when I called him; he laid at my feet for tummy rubs; he sat at my desk as I studied. Having that connection and love is something that I will cherish forever -- a highlight not only of my time in college, but my life as a whole. Oh, and the couch cuddles and bed snuggles can't be beat."
"Fostering was one of the most meaningful opportunities I had during my college experience. I have always had a love for animals and have also adopted many rescues as family pets, and fostering gave me the chance to help so many dogs find their forever homes. Fostering was so special to me because it's like you get a new best friend every week. It's so sweet watching them interact with you and follow you around all day. You can tell how happy your foster is to be with you, and they love to spend every moment with you. I remember all 15 of our fosters, and I have pictures of all of them. They became so special to me. Get ready to have the cutest cuddle bugs by your side!"
